Rolf Harris sentenced to 5 years in jail

Rolf Harris has been sentenced to over 5 years in prison after he was found guilty of 12 indecent assault charges, effectively ending the Australian entertainer's career.

Harris will serve a term of 5 years and 9 months for assaulting girls as young as 8 years old. Harris, who was a national icon in both Australia and the UK is the highest profile TV personality to be convicted of sexual assault in a landmark case following the Jimmy Savile sex abuse scandal.

Harris, like Max Clifford, will face a similar fate, losing his vast fortune to claims filed against him, along with the reputation he has built for himself.

Accused and convicted of assaulting 4 girls, Harris reportedly "got a thrill from committing some of these offences".

With the court case now finalised, Harris supporters will likely face increased scrutiny as one of Britain's most beloved entertainers goes behind bars. It is unclear whether he will lose some of the honours he has received along with his CBE from the Queen.

Will there be more cases uncovered in the future? We can only speculate that this is only the beginning, and more victims are likely to come forward.
