With the announcement of a new Stars Wars movie being filmed in Pinewood next year, along with Mission Impossible 5 set to film in London, investment in film production continues to increase.

Back in January the BFI announced that UK film productions had seen a boost of investment of 14% in 2013, while a host of new major Hollywood movies are set to shoot this year and next, bringing international finance back into the UK economy.

Additionally, with Warner Bros planning more productions in their new Leavesden Studios and a host of foreign producers choosing to take advantage of production tax breaks, there's a lot to be excited about.

While there remains considerable room for improvement on the distribution front for British films abroad, the turnaround for production at home has boosted employment and some could call it a 'creative renaissance'.

Despite this great achievement, the industry remains competitive, and there are many other countries that provide generous tax breaks like the UK, however producers have additional incentive to explore co-productions following the landmark pact signed by China and Britain to open up markets.
